Trio (Student Support Services)
Mission
Student Support Services is a federally funded TRiO program, which acts as a bridge linking faculty and students. Our mission is to "increase retention and graduation rates among program participants by providing comprehensive, individualized academic support." Students qualify for Student Support Services if they meet one or more of the eligibility requirements and have an academic need. The program is funded to serve a limited number of students. Although applications are processed immediately, students may be placed on a waiting list.
Eligibility Requirements
- First generation: Neither parent nor guardian(s) have earned a four-year college degree
- Income eligible: Student must meet federal income guidelines according to Federal TRIO Programs Current Low-Income Levels
- Students with a disability: Can document a disability that significantly interferes with academic performance
Is it transferrable?
Students who were in a TRIO-Student Support Services program at a 2-year college are encouraged to apply. If they were already admitted into the program, they will likely be admitted again.

Accessibility Accommodations
It is the policy of the University of Nebraska at Kearney to provide flexible and individualized reasonable accommodation to students with documented disabilities. The Office of Disability Services for Students (DSS) offers a wide variety of services to students with documented disabilities.
Disabilities that may qualify include (but are not limited to): Learning Disability, limited mobility, ADHD, food allergy , mental health disorder, temporary injury, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Blind or Visually Impaired, chronic health disorder). Documentation could include an IEP or 504 plan or a letter from your health provider.
After reviewing your documentation, the DSS staff will determine appropriate academic services and accommodations, depending on your needs and the academic setting. As a student you are responsible for requesting most accommodations in a timely manner and for following DSS policies and procedures for receiving services each semester.

Academic Standards
Your academic success is our top priority at bet36365体育, so we encourage you to familiarize yourself with policies on Academic Integrity, what it means to be in Good Standing, as well as access to the expectations of you, the student, within the Student Code of Conduct.
The Undergraduate Catalog has academic regulations that you will need, so please be sure you know how to find it.
Transfer Credit
The process for applying transfer credit to a student's record is not automatic nor is it immediate. At bet36365体育, each course is evaluated and loaded individually, so this process takes time. However, this also allows us to ensure we are accurate with awarding credit, so that you receive every credit that bet36365体育 can accept towards your degree.
Because it is a manual process, your credit will not officially be loaded to your student record until after your orientation requirement is completed. When the Confirmation Form is submitted, it will trigger an official credit evaluation and loading to your record.
Here are a few items you need to consider to make this process as quick and easy as possible:
1) Have official documents submitted for each of your previous institutions. Note: this means that we will need an official transcript from every institution separately and also includes any college credit you may have completed while still in high school. While these credits may populate on your high school transcript, we need the official record from the college institution as to what that course completion was to be able to load it to your higher education record.
2) If you're currently enrolled, still provide an official transcript as your previously graded terms can be applied to your record while you finish your last semester there.
3) Be prepared to wait on enrolling in some classes if you are currently enrolled in a prerequisite course. bet36365体育 does not assume successful completion of courses and will require a final transcript with final grades for you to be eligible for courses with prerequisites.
You will receive an email from the registrar's office once your credit has been loaded to your record, complete with instructions on how to locate this information in your Degree Audit on MyBLUE.

FERPA and Title IX Awareness
FERPA
Student education records are official and confidential documents protected by one of the nation's strongest privacy protection laws, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Educational records, as defined by FERPA, include all records that schools or education agencies maintain about students. FERPA affords students certain rights with respect to their educational records.

Title IX Statement
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (20 U.S.C. .1681 et seq.) prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs receiving Federal financial assistance. Athletics are considered an integral part of an institution's education program and are therefore covered by this law.
Title IX states: "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."
