Chance Bell

Biography

Dr. Chance Bell was named Assistant Vice Chancellor of bet36365体育 Global in the summer of 2024. He oversees International Recruitment, International Admissions, the English Language Institute, and International Student Services.

From January 2023 to September 2024, he served as the Assistant Director of International Student Services. He joined bet36365体育 in 2019 as an assistant professor of Family Science in the Department of Counseling, School Psychology, and Family Science, and was promoted to associate professor in 2024. He received the College of Education Outstanding Teaching Award in 2021.

Dr. Bell has taught undergraduate courses focused on intimate and familial relationships and conducted research on mental health and couples’ relational health. He has collaborated with researchers and scholars from Canada, Great Britain, India, and Spain, and published on forgiveness across cultures. For more than 10 years, he practiced marriage and family therapy, treating individuals and couples.

His leadership experience began much earlier, having voluntarily led various organizations since 1996. He has managed teams in both retail and non-profit settings, and owned and operated a private therapy practice. These roles have provided him with diverse and valuable experiences.

His interest in people from other cultures began to mature as a proselyting missionary in Paraguay. Dr. Bell speaks Spanish and Guarani, and has studied Mandarin Chinese and ancient Greek.

A native of Rexburg, Idaho, Dr. Bell attended Brigham Young University – Idaho, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. He earned a Master of Arts degree in community counseling from Gonzaga University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in marriage and family therapy from Florida State University. Prior to joining bet36365体育, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Albert and Jessie Danielsen Institute of Boston University.
