Many students who study abroad do so with the assistance of various forms of financial aid. Students who qualify for federal, state or institutional aid in the form of grants, loans, or scholarships through the University of Nebraska at Kearney may apply these awards toward study abroad provided that they are enrolled in an eligible study abroad program. Below is a list of eligible programs along with how financial aid may work within the program.

Financial Aid is a broad term that refers to several types and categories of Financial aid. These aid programs represent some of the most common types of financial aid but are not meant to be an exhaustive list.
Documentation Required
As each of these programs has different costs associated with them, it is the student’s responsibility to provide the required documentation of expenses to the Office of Financial Aid. Below is a chart of possible documentation required for the different types of programs.

Below are non-bet36365体育 study abroad scholarships that you may be eligible for. There are two categories of national awards: those that require institutional nomination and endorsement (students therefore cannot apply on their own) and those for which students can nominate themselves.

Ashley Soule Conroy Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship awards of $3,000 for undergraduate degree seeking students on semester or year study abroad programs with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Students must have demonstrated financial needs as determined by the FAFSA. For more information visit: www.ashleysfoundation.org.
Barry M. Goldwater Scholarships
Goldwaters are for sophomores and juniors studying and planning a research career in mathematics, natural sciences, or engineering. Sophomore scholarship recipients receive $14,000 and junior scholarship recipients receive $7,000 towards expenses for tuition, fees, books, and room and board.
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program provides awards of up to $5,000 for U.S. undergraduate students to pursue summer (must be 21 days or longer), semester or academic-year long study abroad opportunities. Boren Awards for Undergraduate International Study
Boren Scholarships provide U.S. undergraduate students funding up to $8,000 for Summer (STEM students only), $10,000 for a semester, or $20,000 for a year to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad (the location must be outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand). In exchange for Boren Award funding, scholarship recipients commit to seek work in the Federal Government in a position with national security responsibilities within three years after graduation. Critical Language Scholarship Program
Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) is a fully funded summer intensive language and cultural immersion program for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students. CLS Institutes offer language study in Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Swahili, Turkish, and Urdu. DAAD
The "Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst" is a private, publicly funded, self-governing organization of higher education institutions in Germany. DAAD promotes international academic relations and cooperation by funding mobility programs primarily for students and faculty, but also for administrators and others in the higher education realm.

Freeman Asia Scholarship
The Freeman-ASIA Foundation will award Undergraduate U.S. citizens or permanent residents with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia for summer, semester or academic year. Award amounts range from $3,000 for summer study, $5,000 for semester study, to a maximum of $7,000 for a full year abroad. Visit Freeman-Asia for application and more information.
Fulbright Scholarships
Fulbright Scholarships are available to students who hold a bachelor's degree in hand by the beginning of the grant program, have a good to excellent GPA, and reasonable proficiency in the language of the host country. Visit cies.org/ for more information on program requirements.
Fund for Education Abroad
The Fund for Education Abroad provides U.S. undergraduates funding up to $10,000 for study abroad programs for at least four weeks in length. Visit Fund for Education Abroad for more information.
Marshall Scholarship
Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom. Up to forty Scholars are selected each year to study either at graduate or occasionally undergraduate level at an UK institution in any field of study. The scheme allows the Scholars, who are the potential leaders, opinion-formers and decision-makers in their own country, to gain an understanding and appreciation of British values and the British way of life. It also establishes long-lasting ties between the peoples of Britain and the United States. Each scholarship is held for two years.
The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans
The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans provide substantial financial assistance to help either a graduating senior or a graduate with a bachelor's degree who possesses a green card, has applied for naturalization, has been naturalized as a US citizen, or is the child of two parents who are both naturalized US citizens to attend or to continue to attend a graduate program (in any field) of an American university. Graduate students may not have, however, passed their second year of graduate study. Fellowship recipients receive, for up to two years, $20,000 per year plus 1/2 the cost of tuition.
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi awards grants in the amount of $1,000 to undergraduates with a minimum GPA of 3.75 to study abroad. Visit Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society of more Information and applications.
Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships
Interested applicants must apply for Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships through their local Rotary club. Because scholarship availability and application deadlines vary by club and district, only your local club can provide specific information on deadlines. A student’s aid may be adjusted based upon documentation that the student submits. Documentation can include:
Students in Exchange and MAUI programs register for non-graded bet36365体育 classes and are charged tuition and fees through bet36365体育.
Financial aid will credit to a student’s bet36365体育 Student Account and cover any bet36365体育 tuition and fees that it can. Any funds above and beyond are then refunded to the student to help with the remainder of their expenses while abroad.
As the remainder of the expenses, such as room and meals, are not charged through bet36365体育, it will be the student’s responsibility to research the program they were admitted into and provide bet36365体育 a copy of estimated additional expenses.

Students in Agent programs do not register for bet36365体育 classes nor are tuition and fees charged through bet36365体育. As an international experience through agent program is usually pursued because of individual interest on a student’s part, the program may not have been vetted for academic transferability. Students are required to submit proof that their bet36365体育 Advisor, bet36365体育 program, and bet36365体育 Registrar will accept the classes towards their bet36365体育 degree. A student will want to work with the bet36365体育 Study Abroad Office and their bet36365体育 Advisor to secure an international experience through an agent program.
Financial aid will credit to a student’s bet36365体育 Student Accounts and funds will be refunded to the student to help cover their expenses while abroad.
